New clues in Queensland burnt torso case

Queensland detectives probing the baffling discovery of a man's charred torso on a roadside have identified a car seen in the area at the time.

The headless remains, with arms severed at the elbows and nothing left below the rib cage, were found burnt at Cedar Pocket, near Gympie, on September 19 last year.

Police say an orange, gold or bronze coloured hatchback, possibly a 2011 Orange Nissan Micra, was seen in the area on the same day.

A similar car was also spotted in the vicinity of Tin Can Bay and Rainbow Beach.

A middle-aged caucasian woman of medium build with blonde or brown hair is believed to have been driving the car.

Police want to speak to anyone who saw the vehicle or woman.

It is believed the male victim was caucasian, aged between 25 and 50 and was possibly on medication for high blood pressure.
