An electrician charged over the death of a young Queensland tradesman is now facing accusations of perjury.

Nathan Day was charged in July last year with the manslaughter of 20-year-old Jason Garrels, who had only been on the job for nine days when he was electrocuted at a Clermont building site in February 2012.

The Brisbane Supreme Court heard on Wednesday that Day has since been charged with perjury and will have his case next heard on June 16 in the same court.
