Most wanted' fugitive behind bars in Qld

A sought-after fugitive, allegedly found by police hiding under a child's bed in Sydney, is now behind bars in Queensland.

Jayde Schackow was taken into custody in NSW after officers including riot police forced entry into a home at Glossodia, in Sydney's northwest, on Saturday night.

The 29-year-old faced the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday on outstanding warrants relating to two counts of serious assault.

He did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody, with the matter next scheduled to come before the Ipswich Magistrates Court on July 28.

Schackow's arrest in Sydney came after "extensive" work to discover his whereabouts as part of Operation ROAM: Fugitive Hunt, NSW Police said.

The operation is a joint effort between Crime Stoppers Australia and police aimed at locating and arresting 19 of the country's most wanted fugitives.
