The high-profile lawyer who defended schoolboy Daniel Morcombe's killer, Brett Peter Cowan, will be sentenced on July 13 after pleading guilty to fraud and other serious charges.

Tim Meehan, 41, pleaded guilty in the Brisbane Supreme Court on Thursday to aggravated fraud and eight counts of fraudulent falsification of records.

Meehan was charged over the dishonest application of monies in excess of $30,000 belonging to his former employer, Bosscher Lawyers.

The charges also relate to the falsification of costs agreements and tax invoices, Queensland's Crime and Corruption Commission said in a statement.

The CCC confirmed on Thursday it was investigating suspected criminal activity in "elements" of the state's legal profession.
