QUEENSLAND'S ELECTION POLICIES

LIBERAL NATIONAL PARTY:

Jobs

- $91 million for Jobs for Tomorrow policy to create 26,000 new training positions by offering incentives to employers.

Infrastructure

- $148 million in "congestion-busting" road projects in the state's southeast.

- $532 million to duplicate the Sunshine Coast railway between Beerburrum and Landsborough. Up to 30 homes affected.

- $150 million in funding for a new stadium complex in Townsville.

- $170 million for M1-Gateway merge, extension of bus lane, 350 park-and-ride spaces.

- $375 million to create a major highway in regional Queensland, to upgrade and widen existing roads to create an inland alternative to the Bruce Highway.

Tax

- Progressively raise the payroll tax exemption to $1.4 million by 2017

LNP TOTAL SPEND: $1.47 billion

LABOR:

Jobs

- $40 million for fresh business ideas under Business Development Fund

Infrastructure

- $3 million upgrade to Airlie Beach boat ramp

Ministerial

- Cut the number of ministers from the current 19 to 14 and assistant ministers down from 12 to one to save the government $27 million.

Education

- $9 million for 45 new guidance counsellors for state schools with over 500 students.

- $139 million over three years for 875 extra new teachers

Health

- $110 million to employ 400 extra nurses over four years.

Environment

- $100 million to protect the Great Barrier Reef, with spending to be determined by new taskforce

Tourism

- $40 million over four years to help grow Queensland's tourism industry.
