A Melbourne woman extradited to Brisbane in connection to an extortion case against former Ipswich mayor Paul Pisasale has been granted bail.

The Footscray woman was arrested on Wednesday and extradited to face one count of extortion during a brief Brisbane Magistrates Court hearing on Thursday morning.

She was granted bail on the condition she does not make contact with Pisasale, his lawyer Cameron McKenzie and another man, surrenders her passport, reports to police five days a week and does not leave Australia.

The woman is alleged to have threatened a man with intent to benefit earlier this year.

She was charged in August as part of an ongoing investigation by the Crime and Corruption Commission.

Pisasale, 65, resigned in June after 13 years in office and is facing extortion and assault charges.
