Manslaughter charge four years after death

A man has been charged with manslaughter four years after a trade assistant was electrocuted at a central Queensland building site.

The incident occurred in February, 2012 when Jason Garrels, 20, was electrocuted and a coronial inquest into his death was held in 2015.

Police have charged a 29-year-old Caboolture man with manslaughter and he is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on July 21.

The charge comes less than 12 months after the findings of an inquest which called for a government review of licensing qualifications for electrical contractors and a review of the electrical safety act.
