Man tries to steal woman's bag on street

A woman has been pushed to the ground and assaulted by a man who jumped out of a car and tried to steal her handbag in Brisbane's north.

The woman was walking along South Pine Road in Everton Park just after 7am on Wednesday when a stolen car pulled up beside her and a man jumped out and grabbed her handbag, police said.

A struggle followed and the woman was pushed to the ground and assaulted, but witnesses rushed to her aid and the man escaped in the car.

The woman suffered grazes in the incident.

Police are looking for a stolen 2000 model white Honda Odyssey with registration 919-TZO.
