Man involved in siege to front Qld court

A man will face court on Monday charged over a car chase and siege south of Brisbane.

The 25-year-old is facing a string of serious charges including possessing a shortened firearm and ammunition.

The drama began when police tried to pull over a stolen car at Woodridge on Friday night, but the group of men in the car fled to a nearby house where a standoff with police unfolded.

The siege lasted several hours and forced police to declare an emergency before all of the men surrendered.

The 25-year-old will face the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday on weapons, drug and other charges.

He has also been charged over a separate incident at Woodridge last week when a police car was rammed.

The charges he faces over that matter include dangerous driving, wilful damage, evading police, and driving while disqualified.
