Man hit by train while being chased by 4WD

A man has been hit by a train in Queensland after being chased onto the tracks by a group of men in a four-wheel drive.

The 22-year-old is thought to have been involved in a two-car crash that happened as the group in the 4WD tried to stop an alleged car theft in Beenleigh late on Tuesday night, police said.

After the crash, the man ran from the car and around lowered boom gates to cross the tracks and was hit by a train, which also narrowly missed the 4WD.

He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening head injuries.
