Man accused of stabbing ex-partner's lover

A neighbour reported hearing blood curdling screams when a man allegedly rammed his ute into a Queensland home and murdered his ex-partner's new love interest.

John William Francis, 50, fronted the Caboolture Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning charged over the stabbing murder.

He's accused of driving his ute through the wall of a rural home at Delaneys Creek, northwest of Caboolture, and stabbing the other man, also aged 50.

It's believed there were five people in the house at the time of the violent attack including the victim's son, his new partner and her son.

Francis has been charged with 10 offences, including the attempted murder of four other people, attempted arson and breaching a domestic violence order.

He did not enter a plea or apply for bail, and was remanded in custody until June 12.

The victim's friend and neighbour Max Podvorac has told the ABC that he heard screaming on the night.

"The screaming that was going on, blood curdling woman's scream," he said.

He said the victim was a gentle man who ran a gardening business from home and had been his friend for more than six years.

Mr Podvorac said the couple had been seeing each other for less than a month.

Police said Francis and all those in the house were known to each other.

They have not confirmed the nature of those relationships but have described the incident as "domestic-related".

Police said Francis was co-operative when officers arrived at the scene to find a ute rammed through a wall of the home, and a body lying outside.
