Driver, pedestrian killed in Qld accidents

A man has died after his car ran off the road in north Queensland.

The 34-year-old was thrown from his vehicle on the Lynd Highway near Charters Towers just before 6pm on Sunday.

A 45-year-old man also died in hospital on Sunday, after he was hit by a truck in the Townsville suburb of Garbutt on Thursday.

He had suffered serious head injuries.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating both incidents.
