No charges yet over drug-affected ravers on party boat

Police can't say if charges are likely over the collapse of five party goers from apparent drug overdoses at an island rave off the Gold Coast.

Four men aged in their 30s and a woman in her 20s had to be rushed to Gold Coast hospitals after they fell ill on Sunday, apparently after taking drugs.

A sixth person who was affected by drugs did not need hospital care.

Police have not confirmed reports the group took liquid fantasy aboard a boat moored near the Dirty Funken Beats Island Party at McLarens Landing on South Stradbroke Island.

The five have since been released from hospital but paramedics said two were in such a bad way on Sunday evening that they couldn't speak.

AAP has sought comment from Dirty Funken Beats, which found itself at the centre of questions earlier this year over a similar event aboard a boat on Sydney Harbour.

In April, a party boat operated by the company had to dock so four men on board could be rushed to hospital from suspected overdoses of ecstasy.

Dirty Funken Beats was served with a short-term closure order, preventing the vessel going back on the water for 72 hours.

The company has previously said it has a zero tolerance policy on drugs - something made perfectly clear to its customers.

Gold Coast Police Superintendent Ben Hanbidge says no one has been charged so far but investigations continue.
