Man charged with slashing woman's throat

A man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly slashing a woman's throat.

The 32-year-old woman was taken to Cairns Hospital on Monday with severe cuts to her throat after being attacked at a property near Tully, in far north Queensland.

She remains in a serious but stable condition.

The 66-year-old man has been charged with multiple offences, including attempted murder, two counts of rape, and torture.

He was also charged with producing dangerous drugs after police allegedly uncovered a cannabis plantation at the property when they arrived to investigate the attack.

He will appear in the Innisfail Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
