Man faces court over Qld cold case murder

A man has briefly faced court charged with the murder of a Queensland man last seen alive almost 22 years ago.

Tony Boyd Carmichael, 45, was charged on Tuesday with the murder of Gregor Armstrong, who went missing from Maryborough on May 7, 1997.

Carmichael appeared in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Wednesday where the matter was immediately adjourned until May 2.

His arrest came six months after police scoured parts of the Tuan Forest, north of the Sunshine Coast, after receiving a tip-off from witnesses.
