Man charged over Qld chopper laser attack

A man has been accused of using a laser beam to target a police helicopter in a dangerous incident on the Sunshine Coast.

The chopper pilot had to take evasive action on several occasions on Thursday night to avoid being blinded by the laser.

Police later raided a home at Mountain Creek and charged a 53-year-old man with threatening the safety of an aircraft and possessing restricted items.

He has been released on bail to face Maroochydore Magistrates Court on June 18.
