Man charged over north Qld pub brawl

Queensland police have charged a 21-year-old man over his involvement in a Charters Towers pub brawl that left another man in a critical condition.

Police say the 45-year-old victim was attempting to intervene in a late-night altercation on Friday when he was allegedly punched in the head.

He lost consciousness and was taken to Charters Towers Hospital before being airlifted to Townsville Hospital.

The 21-year-old Queenton man will appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on Wednesday on a charge of grievous bodily harm.
