Man charged after homemade bomb explodes

A north Queensland man has been charged after a homemade bomb exploded at a property south of Cairns.
The 43-year-old was hospitalised with serious injuries to his right hand after the August 20 explosion and while the man was recovering specialist police investigated his Gordonvale home.
Detectives on Thursday night charged the man with four offences including unlawful possession of explosives and unlawful possession of firearms, and he is expected to face Cairns Magistrates Court on September 26.
