Man arrested at Qld army barracks: reports

A man has been arrested at a far north Queensland army barracks amid reports he was carrying a fake gun.

Police were called to the Lavarack Barracks in Townsville on Tuesday afternoon.

Security and police officers guarded the entrance to the barracks as the reports were investigated.

A 24-year-old man was in custody, a police spokeswoman confirmed.

The spokeswoman could not confirm details about the situation other than to say it had been resolved.
