Qld man remanded over fatal crash
An allegedly disqualified driver charged with crashing into and killing an elderly Queensland woman has been remanded in custody.
Brandon Pavey-Rees, 21, allegedly sped away from police minutes before he slammed into another car in the coastal town of Hervey Bay about lunchtime on Friday.
Janet Tucker, 72, died at the scene after being hit head-on.
Pavey-Rees appeared briefly in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Monday facing charges of dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop and disqualified driving.
The Hervey Bay local was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on June 23.
Pavey-Rees was taken to hospital after the crash, where he was kept under police guard.
He was arrested and taken into custody on Saturday.
