A man accused of the manslaughter and cruelty of a 10-year-old-boy, who was being cared for by the man's de facto partner, is free to spend Christmas at home.

James Colin Burnham, who is also facing a charge of interfering with a corpse, was granted bail in Brisbane's Magistrates Court on Thursday before his committal hearing on February 13, 2017.

Jodie Maree Powell, 43, the aunt and the carer of the dead boy, who lost her bid for bail on Wednesday, and Burnham were charged over the boy's July 2015 death after relatives found his body in the bedroom of a home in the Brisbane suburb of Mackenzie.
