Man, 74, fined over large cannabis bust

An elderly man arrested in connection to a large cannabis bust in central Queensland has been fined $1500 after pleading guilty to drugs charges.

Kelvin Currie, 74, was fined $1500 and had no conviction recorded when he appeared in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with producing and possessing dangerous drugs.

Currie and two other men were arrested last month after 370 cannabis plants were found at several Lowmead properties south of Gladstone.
