Lucky Ipswich braces for minor flooding

The Bremer River is expected to peak at 14 metres later today, but Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale says the city west of Brisbane has dodged the bullet fired by ex-tropical Cyclone Debbie.

Sixty roads are closed across the city due to flooding, including Colleges Crossing and King Edward Parade.

Cr Pisasale said the 2011 floods, in which the Bremer River peaked at 19.1 metres, had taught them many lessons, and they were well prepared for any minor flooding later on Friday.
