Leopard seal suns itself on Queensland beach

A relaxed leopard seal has been filmed lying about on North Stradbroke Island this afternoon.

The 9NEWS chopper camera filmed the animal on the shore of Point Lookout about 4pm.

The seal seemed unbothered by the nearby wildlife ranger’s ute.

Rangers are now working to remove the seal from the beach.

Leopard seals are third largest of its kind in the world, and are native to the Antarctic.

They are widely considered one of the continent’s most fearsome predators.
