Police seize seven weapons during knife crackdown at Schoolies

As school leavers continue to celebrate finishing high school in Surfers Paradise, Queensland Police have seized seven weapons from the crowds.

Metal detectors have been set up in Gold Coast's Safe Night Precincts in an attempt to control knife crime.

Police have arrested 32 people on 42 charges since celebrations began last Friday, and have released footage of a number of those arrests when knives were seized.

The charges include drug, weapon and breach of bail offences.

The ages of those charged ranged from 13 to 39 years old, despite schoolies being meant for meant teenage school leavers.

Officers have used metal detectors on 918 people in Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach since November 18.
