Jailed Queensland truckie gets retrial

A Queensland truck driver who was jailed over a head-on collision that killed a British tourist will get a retrial.

Carlos Martinez was sentenced to two years' jail in March after he was found guilty of dangerous driving causing the death of Simon Wilkinson at Oak Beach in far north Queensland in 2011.

Martinez's conviction was set aside on Friday and a retrial ordered after transcripts of courtroom discussions between the judge and lawyers were accidentally given to the jury.
