Ipswich man charged with alleged attempted rape of woman in 2010

A 37-year-old man has been arrested over the alleged attempted rape of a woman in Redbank Plains more than a decade ago.

Police allege the Riverview man dragged the woman, then aged 20, from Kruger Parade into a nearby park on August 27, 2006.

She was seriously assaulted before a passer-by intervened.

Her 37-year-old alleged attacker was today charged with attempted rape, deprivation of liberty and assault occasioning bodily harm.

He is due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court later today.

Detective Acting Inspector Heath McQueen praised police following the man’s arrest.

“This result highlights the commitment of the Queensland Police Service to upholding the law and bringing offenders to justice,” he said.
