Senior Ipswich City Council officer Craig Maudsley has made his first appearance in court since being charged with misconduct in public office.

The chief operating officer of works, parks and recreation fronted Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The 54-year-old was charged by the Crime and Corruption Commission on September 12 over allegations he used his influence to benefit council contractor Wayne Francis Innes to the detriment of business Colmine Consulting.

Court documents show the alleged misconduct occurred between September 14, 2016, and November 22, 2016.

Maudsley had his bail continued on the proviso he have no direct or indirect contact with Mr Innes or any Colmine Consulting staff.

The matter will return to court on October 30.

Maudsley is one of several Ipswich City Council staff to have been charged following the CCC investigation.

He has been stood down on full pay.
