Electrical fault blamed for Brisbane CBD high-rise office fire

A fire on the 13^th floor of a Brisbane CBD office tower has been contained on a testing day for emergency services.

Firefighters were called to the IBM building on Edward Street at about 12.40pm after receiving reports of a blaze.

Thankfully, the sprinkler system in place was able to contain the blaze and emergency crews helped workers flee safely.

It is believed the fire was started by an electrical fault.

Business will resume as usual as normal tomorrow.

The fire came after a 30-year-old company was reduced to ruin in a factory fire in Salisbury this morning.

Twenty-two units were called to the Fox Flags business on Evans Road this morning but the blaze was too intense to contain.

The building and three nearby offices were razed.

The fire is understood to have started when a stolen car was deliberately torched near the factory.

At least two dozen staff are now without work.
