Huntsman tries to eat mouse in central Qld

A central Queensland huntsman's midnight snack has gone viral.

Mackay man Jason Womal captured the footage of the large spider battling to scale a fridge while holding onto the seemingly lifeless body of a small mouse.

"So I am just about to leave for work about 12:30 and me neighbour says 'You want to see something cool' and I say 'hell yeah'," Mr Womal wrote on the Facebook post.

Arachnophobes took to the comments section to voice their horror at the display, suggesting the only course of action would be to burn the house down.

But, after the overwhelming online reaction, Mr Womal said they had decided to name the spider "Hermie".

"We have adopted him and he is now running his own extermination business out of our town Coppabella," he wrote.
