Qld man shot dead in front of daughter

Police are hunting for intruders who shot a Queensland man dead in front of his teenage daughter.

Michael Menzel's 13-year-old daughter was in the house at Gleneagle, south of Brisbane, on Monday morning when four men in disguise broke in.

She watched as they shot her 48-year-old father in the leg.

He died a short time later. She was not hurt.

Acting Detective Inspector Ken Murray said Mr Menzel's family was "devastated".

"It is a terrible event, particularly for that child to see such things take place," he said on Tuesday.

Det Murray would not speculate on the motive but said the intruders appeared to know Mr Menzel.

"It seems to be a planned event - it wasn't random," he said.

The intruders also attacked a second man, 40, with a hammer.

He is in a stable condition after being hit on the head while at the home.

Police say the offenders fled the scene in a dark-coloured vehicle.

Police are investigating whether their getaway car was later dumped and set alight on a road at Logan Reserve.

They have called for anyone with information to come forward.
