How Qld police shooting and siege unfolded

HOW THE DEADLY LOCKYER VALLEY SIEGE UNFOLDED:

MONDAY:

2.20pm - Police try to intercept "person of interest" in a car at Seventeen Mile, in the Lockyer Valley. Wanted man, later identified as Rick Maddison, gets out of his car and fires at police vehicles. Senior Constable Brett Forte is killed.

3.40pm - Police declare an emergency and set up an exclusion zone. Specialist police arrive. Public and media warned to stay away.

4.00pm - Police track Maddison to a farm shed inside the locked-down area, west of Brisbane. Stand-off unfolds as Maddison fires at other officers, police vehicles and a police helicopter.

9.30pm - Police Commissioner Ian Stewart confirms police trying to negotiate with the gunman.

TUESDAY:

Morning - Stand-off between Maddison and police continues.

11.30am - Maddison shot dead by specialist police after emerging from the shed he'd been holed up in and firing on them.

1.45pm - Mr Stewart says Maddison had "many opportunities" to resolve the situation peacefully but didn't take them.
