Hacktivists urge G20 social media push

Online activists have threatened to hijack Twitter feeds on the G20 summit in Brisbane, bombarding a stream of negative messages.

The hacktivist group Anonymous is urging its followers to use the #G20Brisbane hashtag.

"The #G20Brisbane hashtag is taking off on twitter and facebook now so it's a good time to hijack it," Anonymous Galactic, a branch of the global hacktivist movement, has posted on Facebook.

"I've noticed a lot of negative comments towards the G20 looking at the hashtag already which is great, so let's add to them!"

The message was shared on the Anonymous Queensland and Anonymous Brisbane Facebook pages.
