Gun-toting Qld cop expected to learn fate

An outback Queensland police officer who pulled his gun and threatened a speeding motorist is expected to learn whether he'll be convicted of charges arising from the incident.

Senior Constable Stephen Flanagan was captured on video screaming "f***ing pull over now, c***" before stopping Lee Povey in Mount Isa in May 2015.

Flanagan's trial in Brisbane Magistrates Court last month heard how the officer of 25 years pointed his pistol at Mr Povey while he sat behind the wheel and threatened to "put a f***ing hole in you".

He then pinned Mr Povey to the side of his truck and handcuffed him, leaving scratches and marks on his wrists and back.

Magistrates Paul Kluck is expected to hand down his verdict on charges of common assault and deprivation of liberty on Wednesday.
