Golf ball sparks Sunshine Coast punch-up

A dispute over a golf ball on a Sunshine Coast course has ended with a man being charged with serious assault.

The two men, aged 46 and 76, were playing separately at the Cooroy Golf Club on October 12 when an argument broke out over a ball.

The younger man is accused of repeatedly punching the older man in the face when things became heated, causing bruises and abrasions.

The two were fighting over who owned the golf ball, a police spokeswoman said.

The 46-year-old has been charged with seriously assaulting a person over 60.

He will appear in the Noosa Magistrates Court on December 16.
