Gold Coast worst for DUI road deaths
AAP
The Gold Coast has topped the list of Queensland's worst regions for drunk and drugged road deaths.
And it's an unwelcome distinction that has the RACQ worried, as thousands of P-platers prepare to descend on the tourist hot spot for schoolies celebrations.
According to Department of Transport and Main Roads figures, the Gold Coast suffered an average of 6.2 fatalities a year over a five-year period, ahead of the Sunshine Coast's 5.6 and Logan's 3.8.
