Gold Coast's twin tiger cubs named

They're soft and furry and now the Gold Coast's twin tiger cubs have their own names.

The six-week-old female cubs were officially named Akasha and Adira on Monday at theme park Dreamworld.

Staff chose from a pool of more than 9000 names submitted by the public before settling on Akasha, of Indian origin, and Adira, meaning strong and noble.

The cute cubs also had a first-time play date with older brother Kai, born in late November.

"They're starting to play together more now and are developing their own personalities," Dreamworld's Patrick Martin-Vegue said.

"Akasha is definitely more bold and adventurous than her sister."
