Girl charged over Cairns school bomb hoax

A 15-year-old girl has been charged over a bomb hoax that forced the evacuation of Cairns State High School yesterday.

The Cairns Post reports the girl walked into the Cairns State High School office and punched two teachers before making the bomb threat and leaving.

The school was forced into lockdown and students were evacuated for more than an hour while police searched the campus.

Police have charged the girl with falsely stating a bomb was present, computer hacking and misuse, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and three counts of common assault.

She will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
