GC murder accused remanded in custody

A 38-year-old man accused of murder following an altercation outside a Gold Coast hospital has been remanded in custody.
Paul John Conoley was charged on Monday, a day after his alleged 53-year-old victim died as a result of his injuries.
Police claim the pair, who were not known to each other, started to fight about 8am on Friday morning while they were both attending Gold Coast University Hospital.

The 53-year-old man from Townsville suffered critical head injuries during the incident.
Conoley's matter was briefly mentioned for the first time in Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
He was remanded in custody until his next appearance on August 31.
