Funding for Qlders impacted by cyclone

Queensland farmers and small business owners impacted by Cyclone Debbie can finally access their share of almost $15 million in disaster funding, one month after it wreaked havoc across the state.

The Category C entitlements were made available by the state and federal governments on Thursday afternoon.

It followed a slanging match between the two tiers of government, with Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce accusing the state of being "tardy" with its funding application just one day earlier.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said $14.7 million would be made available to people in the Gold Coast, Isaac, Logan, Mackay, Rockhampton, Scenic Rim and Whitsunday council areas.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the funding would help people that were "still facing ongoing hardship and disruption to normal community life".
