Police in far north Queensland have been punched, swung at with knuckle dusters and hit with a ceramic bowl in a spate of assaults over the New Year.

Four officers were attacked in three separate incidents between Friday and Sunday, with two women and a man now facing a string of charges.

A male officer suffered substantial bruising and cuts to his face after he was allegedly punched by a 17-year-old armed with a knuckle duster at a disturbance in Edmonton on Friday.

A female officer also sustained severe facial injuries after she was allegedly punched in the jaw and head by a 21-year-old woman at a large street fight in Hopevale on New Year's Day.

In another incident on Sunday, a 20-year-old woman allegedly punched a female officer in the jaw before hurling a ceramic bowl at a male officer and a police vehicle at a Mission River property. Both officers were treated for bruising.

The three alleged attackers will face court over the coming weeks, charged with various offences including serious assault of a police officer.
