A Queensland Australian Rules footballer charged with assault after allegedly kicking another player in the head on the field has not appeared in court for a brief mention of his matter.

Liam Nantkita Tudor, 19, has been charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm after allegedly kicking Redcliffe Tigers player Josiah Daniel while playing for the Ipswich Eagles in a match on August 19 at Limestone Park in Ipswich.

Tudor's appearance was excused at Ipswich Magistrates Court on Friday as the matter was adjourned until October 6.
