Flegg's feud with ex-staffer back in court

Former Queensland minister Bruce Flegg's lawsuit against his former media adviser is expected to return to court this month.

The Moggill MP is suing ex-staffer Graeme Hallett for defamation over public claims Dr Flegg failed to disclose contact with his lobbyist son.

The claims were aired by Mr Hallett during a November 2012 media conference, which he called after he was sacked.

Dr Flegg resigned from cabinet the following day.

A Supreme Court trial began in October and was expected to run for three days, but the case has dragged out due to legal argument.

At a Brisbane Supreme Court hearing on Friday, Mr Hallett's legal team won permission to amend its defence and the trial was set down to continue over up to four days this month.

Dr Flegg's team has closed its case but indicated on Friday it could reopen it and call new witnesses.

The trial has already heard from Dr Flegg and his son Jonathan, who both deny Jonathan lobbied his father.

Dr Flegg has testified that Mr Hallett's media conference devastated his political career and he has not recovered.

The trial is expected to resume on November 20.
