Flegg ex-adviser seeks Qld police evidence

Lawyers for the former media adviser of Queensland MP Bruce Flegg want access to police evidence alleging he made threats and demands against the government.

The state's crime and corruption watchdog in June issued Graeme Hallett with a notice to appear in court for making "demands with menaces upon agencies of government".

Hallett's lawyer Kris Jahnke asked for an adjournment in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday to give prosecutors enough time to hand over police notebooks containing interviews about the case.

Hallett, who is on bail, did not appear in court and is also excused when the case returns to court on September 8.

The Crime and Corruption Commission alleged that after Hallett was sacked by Dr Flegg in November 2012, he threatened to release information and make a complaint to police unless he was re-hired in another government role.

Dr Flegg was the state housing minister when he dismissed Mr Hallett.

Mr Hallett held a press conference the day after being fired and claimed his former boss lied to parliament by failing to record the extent of contact his office had with his lobbyist son.

The following day, Dr Flegg stood down as minister, saying it had come to his attention that there were "administrative failures" about which he had not previously known.

Mr Jahnke has previously said his client denied the allegations against him and would be fighting the charge.
