Fire in Brisbane CBD shopping mall

Firefighters have managed to extinguish a fire in an inner-city Brisbane shopping centre.

Smoke and flame was spotted pouring from the roof of Broadway on the Mall in the Brisbane CBD about 2pm (AEDT) and firefighters closed several surrounding streets and they moved towards the blaze.

Firefighters managed to put the fire out a short time later.

The extent of the damage is unknown but emergency services remain at the scene.

Broadway on the Mall is a large shopping centre and is mid-way through renovations.
