Fire expected to impact Qld township

Residents of a Sunshine Coast township are being told to follow their bushfire survival plans or leave if it's clear to do so, as a fire burns nearby and conditions worsen.

The fire, on the eastern side of the Noosa River, is burning in a north to northeasterly direction towards Teewah township.

It's expected to impact the township within minutes, a 9.20pm alert from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said on Tuesday.

The QFES said that if residents didn't have a bushfire survival plan, the safest option was to leave if it was clear to do so.

"The fire could have a significant impact on the community," the alert said.

Residents who are leaving the area can do so safely in a southerly direction along the beach, towards Tewantin.
