Queensland police continue to search two crime scenes after man's body found in large esky

Homicide detectives are continuing to search two crime scenes in far north Queensland after the grisly discovery of human remains in a large esky.

The man's body was found in bushland south of Cairns on Thursday, hours after 32-year-old David Hickson was charged with murder and interfering with a corpse.

The area where the body was discovered has been declared a crime scene as well as a nearby home in the southern suburb of Edmonton.

Police say they'll likely remain at the two locations for several days.

Hickson appeared in Cairns Magistrates Court on Thursday, with his case adjourned until December 17.

Few details about the alleged crime have been released and the dead man's identity hasn't been revealed.

Cairns Regional Crime Co-ordinator Detective Inspector Bruno Asnicar says information received about seven days ago alerted detectives to the fact the dead was missing and had possibly met with foul play.
