The shocking moment an emergency services vehicle collided with another car while speeding through an intersection in Queensland has been caught on camera.

The video, posted to Facebook, was captured by the dashcam of a neighbouring vehicle.

It shows a snarl of traffic coming up to the lights on Smith Street Motorway and Kumbari Avenue in Southport yesterday afternoon.

A 4WD emergency services vehicle can be seen coming up to the intersection, slowing down before proceeding through the lights.

As it gets to the end of the intersection, a red car, which is turning left to go the same direction as the emergency services vehicle, doesn’t stop and instead the two collide, forcing the red vehicle to spin.

“Remember, a green light does not mean you are safe to go through,” a post accompanying the video said.

“Make sure your stereo is at a reasonable level so you can hear sirens and watch out for flashing lights. And if you see vehicles around you stopped or braking look out for why.”

The video has been viewed more than 100,000 times and attracted hundreds of comments.

No one was injured.
