An elderly Queensland masseur charged with raping and sexually assaulting customers may have abused other women, police say.

The 80-year-old is accused of two assaults at his massage stall at a Sunshine Coast farmers' market in June 2011 and August this year, but police fear there could be more victims.

Detective Senior Sergeant Daren Edwards urged any other women who may have been inappropriately dealt with during massages at Sunshine Coast markets to come forward.

"What is concerning is that we have people who... believe they're going there for a genuine massage and that trust is lost and they've been subjected to assaults that is obviously a terrible emotional experience for them," he told reporters on Friday.

The 80-year-old is charged with raping one customer and sexually abusing another.

Det Edwards said the alleged victims told police they started to freeze when the alleged abuse took place and were not sure what to do.

"Thankfully the women that have come forward now have provided good evidence to us to assist in the action we have," he said.

Det Edwards warned masseurs to clearly tell customers what they should expect from a massage, and provide towels and somewhere for people to undress.

The man is due to face the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on September 24 on one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault.
