Early Qld election is premier's call: Trad

Queensland's deputy premier has brushed off questions about whether the government is considering an early election to take control of the hung parliament.

The minority Palaszczuk government is facing embarrassing defeats on two key bills on Thursday night as the opposition and crossbench MPs team up against it, but Deputy Premier Jackie Trad skirted questions about a potential election.

"An election is the responsibility and the obligation and the privilege of the premier of the day to call and that's all I'm going to say," Ms Trad said.
